We are thrilled to share that we have been working on enhancing the capabilities of our pedestrian simulation software, Oasys MassMotion. We have listened to your feedback and have implemented features that will make it easier for you to model and assess your designs across a range of contexts. Not only can you unlock endless possibilities with the MassMotion SDK (Software Development Kit), but the updates will also help you take your design capabilities to the next level. With the new release, we’ve made it possible for you to automate and customise every aspect of your simulations, putting you in the driving seat of your designs.
Let’s walk through the details of the release:
New features and capabilities
The new Static Accessibility Map query provides measurable performance indicators for you to better compare designs and communicate to stakeholders. This new feature allows you to assess several different route options, enabling you to better understand how your space performs for different types of people and societies. For example, you could assess the relative levels of access for mobility impaired agents to specific destinations.
Designed to be user friendly and provide clear results to the user, we’ve made it possible for you to quickly summarise the difference between design options by summarising different levels of data in MassMotion. You can query and export map data as well as produce histograms showing hotspots, the amount of congestion, and more. This is critical to providing a snapshot understanding the performance of multiple designs, which allows clear differentiation between design scenarios.
We have implemented a new Measuring Tool to the Tool Panel which provides measurements, displays angles and can show elevation, horizontal distance, and the rise angle.
Additional editing capabilities have been added to the Script Object to make writing scripts as seamless as possible. Scripts with syntax errors will now be easier to spot, the ability to find and replace text is now available making it much quicker and easier to audit your own scripts. More entries have been added to the context menu to help make writing scripts easier.
Enhancements
We have made significant improvement to the database files. The file size of mmdb files has been reduced by 50%, doubling the number of simulations you can run, making managing internal storage more efficient. Additionally, you can now load previous databases in MassMotion, allowing auditing of older model files without the hassle of juggling installations.
We have made it easier to simplify and edit geometry faster with 3D imports when using meshes or edges to create servers or paths, or even when splitting up big objects to smaller ones.
The new grid feature has been implemented to assist you with model dimensions when designing your space. You can now create 4K movies and images as standard, allowing you to effectively showcase your models and communicate design changes to clients.
Software Development Kit
The pedestrian simulation industry’s first software development kit provides complete control over the advanced algorithms used, the simulation and the agents within. Optimising spaces to cater for pedestrians with reduced mobility who need adequate accessibility measures in place, is becoming increasingly vital when designing buildings and environments. Put accessibility at the forefront of your designs with MassMotion. We have refined the elevator capability so you can modify your models to serve specific requirements. The ability to accurately resemble real-world scenarios for different types of people, groups and societies enables you to meet client’s needs with confidence.
Whether you’re an architect, urban planner, designer or transportation engineer, Oasys MassMotion is your trusted companion for creating safer, more efficient spaces.
